Age may be catching up with veteran guard Manu Ginobili as he will be forced to miss around two games due to hip tightness.
The Spurs, who currently has an 8-2 record made the announcement before their home game on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets. The other game that he will miss is their road game against the Pelicans. He will then be observed before a decision will be made if he will be given the green light to suit up against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
The 38-year-old Argentinian guard has been averaging 11.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals in their first nine game this season.
Ginobili was a vital cog when he helped the franchise win four NBA titles in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014. He was also a spark for Argentina back in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens where they snatched the gold medal.
The Spurs are on top of the Southwest division with their second-best record just behind the still spotless Golden State Warriors led by the strikingly hot hands of Steph Curry.
This recent injury of Ginobili is his fourth this year. He was under the weather last March 10 that forced him to miss a game. Then, he sprained his right ankle that resulted to him being sidelined anew. Just last week, he had an adductor strain that forced him to miss a game against the Philadelphia Sixers.
Though this recent injury of the 13-year veteran is not considered that serious, his age and other injuries he has acquired through the years should be the issue that is why Spurs Management decided to give enough time to recover.
Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and LaMarcus Aldridge are expected to lead the way for the Spurs in the absence of Ginobili. Leonard, who just got back from an injury as well is expected to contribute.
Patty Mills and Danny Green are also expected to fill in the shoes of Manu in his two-game absence.
