Their stint in Paris may be the most unforgettable gig in the history of their careers. They did not only perform in front of a huge crowd, but also witnessed a gruesome terrorist act that will forever linger in their memories.
Eagles of Death Metal had to settle down for a few days upon their return to the United States before they finally made a statement regarding the Paris attacks which they witnessed.
The band was to perform at the Bataclan in Paris just before the fateful attacks were launched last Friday.
“While the band is now home safe, we are still horrified and still trying to come to terms with what transpired in France,” said the members of the group.
“We are bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, and all those affected by terrorism.”
Gunmen, to which the terrorist group ISIS owned up to, killed 89 people when the band was performing at the Bataclan concert hall.
Nick Alexander, their guy selling merchandise at the venue were among those killed. Three employees of the band’s record company were also among the casualties.
“Although bonded by grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion.”
The band also thanked the French police, the FBI, the US and French State Departments, and especially those at ground zero with them who helped not just them, but the people who were there as well.
“We thank them for helping each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil.”
While none of the band members were injured in the attack at the concert hall, all Eagles of Death Metal shows are on hold until further notice.
Matt McJunkins, the band’s bassist posted his own message on his Facebook page:
“Love you guys! And to everyone who’s reached out and offered help, sent us thoughts, love, and their prayers, I will always be thankful for that. It’s meant so much through this chaos. I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful we are for your support. Much love.” #peaceforparis #edm
