Trudeau, Nieto take Manila by storm in APEC leaders’ summit

Manila, Philippines — Reality check, two of the most powerful men in the world today are in town to attend the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. But, unknown to these men is the chaos they have created over the internet.

Justin Trudeau, the newly-elected Prime Minister of Canada, and Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto set the social media on fire as their charisma, good looks, and charming smiles took away the negativity brought about by the tight security measures implemented by the Philippines.

Traffic may be the worst nowadays in the busy streets of the Metro, but the silver lining came when these fresh faces graced the country on Tuesday.

And social media has never been the same since Trudeau and Nieto set foot in the Philippines.

After leading his Liberal Party to a landslide victory last October 19, Trudeau was sworn in just last November 4.

He is the second youngest prime minister in Canadian history. He drew his passion to serve people after seeing his father, the late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. His father served from 1968 to 1979, and from 1980 to 1984.

Prior to his Prime Minister role, Trudeau first worked as a bouncer, bartender, snowboard instructor, and public speaker. His first political position was at the House of Commons in 2008.

Before the APEC Summit, his first big engagement as Prime Minister was when he attended the G20 Summit in Turkey.

Enrique Pena Nieto is the 57th President of Mexico. Before he got elected as President he served as a Governor of the State of Mexico from 2005 to 2011. His first term as President, which will last for six years, started in 2012. He is a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party.

Trudeau and Nieto, alongside 18 other powerful men from countries all over the world will be convening for the summit slated Nov 18-19 in Manila.
